Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Our third day in Iceland and we conveniently bought a trip to the Blue Lagoon combined with a transfer from our hostel (did we mention it was 20 mins out of town, out in the countryside?) and back the the airport.

The bus picked us up in the dark at 8.30 and we drove over the lava fields, past some snowy volcanoes and over to the Blue Lagoon which is a brillant geothermal spa. Since we had hours and hours to kill before going to the airport, we stayed in a bit long and shrivelled up )I think they recommend 50 mins before a break). However, since we were trying hard not to spend our money, we stuck it out and avoided the cafe.

And Iranian lady told me that if you put your hair in the water, the minerals would destroy it, but that you wouldn´t see the damage for 2 weeks! Since this came after the horse had bolted, I decided not to worry about it; to date, all hair remains on head.

After spending a fortune on what was basically half a cup of coffee, we got back on the bus and headed of to the airport, hopefully to return for a longer stay in future!

Here we are. Reykjavik, Iceland. Our first picture - nice view eh? We got here OK. A nice man on the bus helped us find our hostel and our host Ziggy spent a good half an hour telling us everything there was to do in these parts. Icelanders seem very friendly.

No sign of the Northern Lights yet, but our noses are pressed against the window, and the man running the Northern Lights tour has been around (looking for Morris, and not Dubber or Ellis worst luck).

It's been snowing (as you can see) and is about -1 outside, but tomorrow we'll be outside in our swimming costumes. We're off to the Blue Lagoon if the man with the minibus has finished with Morris.

I have been packing!

Here it is! All packed - but have I got everything?!

Hmm this is not a particularly exciting photo. Hopefully I will come up with some better ones than this along the way!
